Through Hole to Surface Mount (SMT) Conversion

Through hole technology is through. Many through hole parts are being deprecated by manufacturers, and it is hard to the get the latest and highest quality parts as through hole components.  Surface mount designs save money, because manufacturing costs, are less because manufacturing can be completely automated, with pick and place machines. There are less manufacturing errors, because pick and place robotic machines are used to place components rather than human assemblers. Designs are also smaller and use less printed circuit board (PCB). Components can be placed on top and bottom of the board, for even higher density designs.  Cleary if you are doing a new product, it should use surface mount components. 

If you already have a product, and would like to benefit from advantages of surface mount technology, Daycounter, can convert your existing through hole design to surface mount. This is usually a fairly inexpensive process, and it can save you in the long run, by saving you manufacturing costs.
