A digital pot is a variable resistor which can be controlled with digital commands. They often interface with either I2C or SPI. The key specifications are number of taps, total resistance, number of pots, and terminal capacitance, which is critical for RF applications.

Microchip's 42XXX series has a band width of nearly 300MHz.

• Intersil - Large variety of specialized semiconductors.
• Microchip - Most famous for their PIC processor, but they have many other useful specialized chips.
